Governor Doofus Shuts Down Minnesota
-- "Waiting for Godot," by Samuel BeckettGovernor Mark Dayton, a Democrat, shuts down state offices in Minnesota by not signing the largest budget bill in state history. It puts more than 24,000 state workers out of work temporarily, a weird hand dealt by a wild-eyed governor they helped to elect. Irony never had it so good.
At issue here in Minnesota (my summertime home) is a goofy governor's intransigent demand to foist an even higher tax on "the wealthy," tagging those sluggards with the the second highest income tax rate in the nation. The rich, who needs' em?
Besides creating the second highest personal income tax bracket, the state already belabors under the third highest income tax on business income, at 9.5 percent at the top tier. High taxes are a legacy of the long-in power populist Democrats' hostility to business in this bone-chilling state.
Well known in corporate circles, not recognized by local news media, is that highly respected, home-bred, state-domiciled businesses, such as 3M, put down roots routinely in other states, rather like Boeing in South Carolina. Their decisions to "move on" are in large part based on sky-high taxes here, a labyrinth of regulations and other costs, notably heating. Also entering the equation is whether unions' swagger is less in other states, than in this dues-coercive, non-right-to-work state. Progressivism here in the Gopher State, it's made terrific progress, so to speak. Quietly, without a lot of suspicion of its real aims of servile dependence on government uber alles.
But enough bitching and moaning about my home state's elevated taxes and generally unfriendly business climate, to say nothing of our tough-as-nails winters. In a word, they're brutal, as any average native of Garrison Keillor's Lake Woebegon would swear to.
Our crass business climate is denied, sometimes heatedly, by down-is-up, Orwellian news media, and by say-it's-not-so DFLers, by which Democrats are known here, short for "Democrat Farmer Labor." Such is their dream-driven fantasy world that spawns an uppity attitude that tax loads do not to matter to business growth. Or fosters a willful blindness that burdensome taxes no not stunt personal wealth on which capitalist dreams are nurtured, all the better to pay the way for real economic security, health insurance and other goodies of an unshackled economy. Reality, it often has a way of escaping ardent liberals-and not only in Minnesota, but also in other state capitols, of course, in Washington, D.C., among the liberal classes.

Elevated Hunting Tower Blind | Deer Texas.com
Texas deer hunters have long been using elevated blinds to hunt from. Elevated tower blinds afford the hunter the ability to see 360 degrees. Looking over and down into the thick brush and/or cover is much more effective than trying to look through it from the ground. Where the cover is particularly thick, it can be next to impossible to see past it even 10 yards. An elevated tower makes the hunter much more successful.
Another advantage to the tower hunting blind, like the one pictured and that can be built with the EZ Deer Blind Kit found on this website, is the fact that it gets the hunter’s scent above the animal making him less detectable to his prey. With 8’ treated 4”x4” posts for legs, the windows of the blind are at approximately 12’ high. This helps blow the hunter’s scent over the heads of most game animals.
The advantages of a homemade box blind are many. It’s cheaper than a prefabricated blind you buy already assembled. You can easily customize it with shelves, carpet, etc… You can choose the paint color scheme to camouflage it into its surroundings. You can stay warm and hunt even on the coldest days by cranking up a small portable propane heater. This allows you to hunt longer and the longer you’re there, the greater the chance of an encounter with game.
Other than those already mentioned, there are many other benefits to using one of our EZ Deer Blind Kits . The cost of the completed blind is unbeatable when comparing other tower blinds of similar quality. The powder-coated steel brackets have sleeves that allow you to easily slide lumber in. Angled 4”x4” sleeves for the legs take all the guesswork out of how to attach your box blind to a tower. Holes are pre-drilled for lag screws which makes for easy assembly. The plans that come with the kit are easy to follow and no special tools are required. Modifying the 4’x6’ plans to build a 4’x4’ or 4’x8’ is easy. Click here to see examples of what other hunters have done with our kit.
Probably one of the best and most unique features of this blind is that it is completely portable. Build the box in your garage or driveway, paint it and let it dry, then disassemble it with just a few screws. You’ll end up with a floor panel, a roof panel and 4 wall panels in addition to your 4 legs and ladder. You can then stack all sections and parts into a regular short bed pickup, use ratchet straps to secure the load, then deliver right to your hunting site. Reassembly onsite is a simple matter and you didn’t have to bounce your complete tower blind across the pasture on a flatbed trailer loosening everything up. Be sure to anchor your blind securely to the ground. Excessive wind will blow over an unsecured blind and your beautiful new blind will be destroyed. You may purchase your anchor kit here . Now, rather than a shaky, noisy blind that rattles every time you shift your weight, you’ve got a rock solid blind to hunt from.
