Cowboys' Williams seeks engagement ring back from former Miss Texas USA
Reports Williams filed a lawsuit seeking the return of the $76,600 ring from Brooke Daniels , a former Miss Texas USA.Williams initially mailed the ring -- you read that correctly -- and a recorded marriage proposal to Daniels in February. Evidently that did not set off wedding bells in her head even though the couple had lived together for a year.
Daniels allegedly told Williams she'd lost the ring after he requested it back. Williams' insurance company later told him Daniels' father, Michael , was in possession of it.
"He said (to Brooke Daniels), 'I'm not like a lot of people, I don't want the ring back. You'll eventually come back to me,' and she didn't," says Michael Daniels, who plans to give the ring back to Williams rather than endure the lawsuit.
"I want to wash my hands of it," said Michael Daniels, who added neither he nor his daughter claimed the ring was lost prior to the insurance inquiry. "It's just a hassle. I'll take care of my daughter. I don't need him.

Dallas Cowboys receiver Roy Williams filed a lawsuit Wednesday in a bid to regain possession of a $76,600 engagement ring he gave to former Miss Texas USA Brooke Daniels.
Williams claims in a court filing that he should be able to regain possession of the ring he sent to Brooke Daniels through the mail after she declined his proposal, Texas newspaper the Odessa American reported.
In an affidavit signed by Williams, the former University of Texas star claims he sent Daniels $5,000 for school and dental bills, a baseball for her brother, the ring and a recorded marriage proposal through the mail just before Valentine’s Day.
Williams said when he asked for the ring to be returned, Daniels claimed she had lost it. Williams then reported it lost to his insurance agency who discovered Daniels’ father, Michael — who is also named as a defendant in the lawsuit — had the ring.
Daniels’ father said in a phone interview with the newspaper that although he has documentation that Williams told his daughter to keep the ring, he will return it to avoid a lawsuit.
“He said (to Brooke Daniels), ‘I’m not like a lot of people, I don’t want the ring back. You’ll eventually come back to me,’ and she didn’t,” Michael Daniels claimed.
A temporary injunction hearing will take place on Friday at Judge Denn Whalen’s 70th District Court, Odessa.
