5 secret indictment warrants served

LISBON - Five warrants were served over the weekend from five of the nine secret indictments issued last week by the Columbiana County Grand Jury.

Dean A. Shaffer, 35, North Lincoln Avenue, Salem, was served Saturday an indictment warrant for a charge of harassment with a bodily substance.

Shaffer is accused of expelling a bodily fluid upon Salem Patrolman Robert Keister on June 4. According to police reports at the time, Shaffer was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and domestic violence charges after police were called to the North Lincoln Avenue home for a woman in need of medical attention. Shaffer fled the scene, leading to a foot chase, and he was eventually found hiding in a bathroom on East Seventh Street. While in custody, Shaffer is accused of spitting in the face of the patrolman.

Jeffrey Mazzei, 38, Beach Street, Beloit, was served Monday with a warrant for two counts of possession of drugs with a forfeiture specification. Mazzei is accused with possessing cocaine and Alprazolam on April 26. He also had $400, which was believed to have been involved in the crime.

Robert A. Ross Jr., 22, Vine Street, East Liverpool, was served Saturday with a warrant for possession of drugs (heroine) on March 7.

Robert B. Griffin, 19, East Liverpool Road, East Liverpool, was served with a warrant Monday for indictments for theft and misuse of credit cards. Court records accuse Griffin of taking a credit card belonging to Frank Milhoan sometime between March 4 and March 13, then using the card for purchases.

Sean E. Johnson, 20, Park Avenue, East Palestine, was indicted with theft and breaking and entering for his alleged involvement in the May 2 break-in at the home of Adam and Amy Sienerth, West Martin Street, and the theft of a Suzuki RM 250 dirt bike, a 2004 Suzuki RM 80 dirt bike and 1998 Yamaha four-wheeler.

Brandon Hacker, 18, Jimtown Road, East Palestine, was served with an open indictment. He has been charged with theft and complicity to breaking and entering. Hacker is believed to have been involved in the May 2 break-in at the home of Adam and Amy Sienerth, West Martin Street, and the theft of a Suzuki RM 250 dirt bike, a 2004 Suzuki RM 80 dirt bike and 1998 Yamaha four-wheeler.

Details were released on other open indictments from this month:

- Jessica L. Keene, 27, Youngstown, has been indicted with passing bad checks, theft and identity theft. According to police, between March 21 and April 10, Keene issued seven checks she knew would be dishonored, writing them for more than $100,000. She further is accused of taking a Mustang GT and two pickup trucks owned by Performance GMC of New Waterford. She also is accused of taking the identity of Sarah Farnham.

Hey guys, I have a 2000 Grizzly 600 and it has been sitting for about two years. I tried to start it and it wouldn't start, because there is no spark. I am clueless when it comes to atv's and anything electrical so I took it to my Yamaha dealer for an diagnosis and estimate. I got it back today and the estimate is over 2000 dollars. They said the inorder to get it up and running I will need 1) C.D.I Unit Assy, 2) Wire Harness, 3) O-ring, 4) Needle Valve Assy, 5) Gasket, Crankcase, and 6) Pulser, Coil. The quad was running fine when I last used it, so this list is kinda unexpected. Can someone tell me how to check the listed parts? As I would like to double check these parts that they said need to be replaced before I start throwing money at it. (remember I'm clueless so more detail would be appreciated). I have already taken most of the plastic and the racks off so it will be easier for me. Hope someone here can help me out. Thanks for reading. Find where the wires come up out of the engine at the left crankcase cover. Follow these wires to the connector. It is a 4 pin connector. Two of the wires are for the pickup coil and the other two are for the source coil. You're looking for the red wire and the white wire. Check the resistance between the red wire and white wire at the connector coming from the engine side. It should read 459-561 ohms. It won't always read in those exact numbers, but if it's close to that, it's OK. If the pickup coil tests bad, check the condition of the wires where they come up through the rubber grommet and exit the crankcase, looking for a broken wire. I've fixed a lot of ATVs that just had a broken wire there, so check that first, before replacing the pickup coil. I doubt that the pickup coil and the CDI are both bad, but I guess it's possible. As far as the other parts, you would have to do a visual inspection to know if they're good or not. The needle valve assembly is part of the carb. I would go ahead and give the carb a thorough cleaning and just replace the needle valve assembly, as it shouldn't cost too much.
