An Amateur's Look at the American Civil War: May
1863: Battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia. Union Commander: General Joseph Hooker. Confederate Commander: General Robert E. Lee. Lee commits its forces in a move that is against all conventional wisdom, he divided his army in front of an enemy force superior in numbers. Lee sends half of the Army, General Jackson to his left after receiving intelligence from the right flank of the Union to be exposed and encamped. By late afternoon, Jackson launched an attack on the body of the Union XI, crush. Other Union forces come to the rescue and the fight continued until nightfall. That night, General Jackson laps ahead of its lines and is mistakenly fired on a North Carolina regiment. Jackson is seriously injured and his left arm amputated. Cavalry commander JEB Stuart Jackson takes shape. 1864: CS President Davis addressed the Confederate Congress, admitting for the first time that the hope of recognizing foreign, especially Britain and France, ended. He also blasts the "total war" policy of the Union armies in which all the material means to support the war effort, especially on farms, were targeted for destruction. In the desert, VA, federal forces launched a frontal assault on Confederate positions. The forces of Confederate General AP Hill are on the verge of collapse when the body arrives General Longstreet. Longstreet was wounded by his own troops, five miles from where General Jackson was wounded a year and four days ago. General Lee is trying to lead a charge personally, but bring his own men. The fight is intense but inconclusive, with the Confederates regaining the trenches. The forest is on fire and hundreds of wounded soldiers burned to death.1862: Union General Benjamin Butler, commander of the garrison of New Orleans, the order of questions No. 28, declaring that any woman who insulted Union troops "should be regarded and held liable to be treated as a woman of the town plying her vocation, "feel like a prostitute. This is in response to an attack against an Admiral of the Union in which the contents of a chamber pot (toilet) was dumped on him. This command will result in fierce anger into Confederation.
